House Full Committee Approves Top NAELA Priority

The House Energy and Commerce approved H.R. 5306, the Empower Care Act, last Thursday. The legislation would reauthorize the Money Follows the Person demonstration project (MFP), which covers the programs and services needed to get people out of nursing homes and back to the community. Without MFP, states cannot get Federal reimbursement for these programs and services. The amended version would provide $450 million in funding for one year of grant funding. NAELA continues to work with a coalition of disability and aging advocates to ensure the program gets reauthorized.
