The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care: Nursing Home Visitation and Immunity from Liability
The Foundation awarded a grant in July 2020 to the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (formerly NCCNHR), a leading national voice representing consumers in issues related to long-term care.
The Consumer Voice is the leading national voice representing consumers in issues related to long-term care, helping to ensure that consumers are empowered to advocate for themselves. They are a primary source of information and tools for consumers, families, caregivers, advocates, and ombudsmen to help ensure quality care for the individual.
Funding from the NAELA Foundation will be used to:
- Advocate directly with CMS – including meeting with CMS official, analyzing and commenting on proposed rules or policy revisions;
- Advocate with key members of Congress, developing and updating appropriate resources to educate members about these issues;
- Engage in grassroots dvocacy around state COVID-19 issues affecting residents, including advocating for resident access to families and other support persons, and adequate oversight of long-term care facilities in developing and implementing visitation policies.
- Support NAELA Members' ability to advocate within their state around COVID-19 and the impact on residents and families, including efforts to secure immunity from liability by the provided industry
