About Practice
Barbara McGinnis, CELA is partner at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, Barbara provides legal expertise on a wide range of client issues with a focus on estate planning, Medicaid eligibility and appeals, and probate matters. She is also a VA-Accredited Attorney. Barbara has been a member of NAELA since 2011 and a board member since 2022. She has held leadership roles in the NAELA Tennessee Chapter, Elder Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association, Life Care Planning Law Firms Association, and other legal, civic, and community organizations. She is also one of the principals of Life Care Consulting LLC. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University, a master’s degree as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law. She was licensed to practice law in 2010.
