What Every Special Needs Planner Needs to Know

Product Details:
While many Special Needs Planning Attorneys work with clients and family members who receive special education services within the public school system, many are unfamiliar with what services and supports are available through our public schools. Learn what schools must provide for students with disabilities under IDEA , the components of an Individual Education Plan (IEP), and how students, families, and attorneys can effectively advocate for appropriate services for students with disabilities. Discussion will also include Behavior Intervention Plans, the least restrictive setting mandate, accommodations, and access to assistive technology. In addition, what many attorneys don't know is that certain designations within a special education context can interfere with meeting eligibility requirements when seeking services and supports through Medicaid waiver programs in the communities. Also learn about the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and how to effectively meet challenges frequently presented when navigating through special education law.
