Future Path for Strengthening Legal Services and Elder Rights (2012)
Although OAA reauthorization remains a work in progress, this session explores implications for legal services/elder rights based on the current political landscape. The goal for this workshop-no matter what the status of reauthorization-is to explore ways to reinvigorate legal services/elder rights advocacy and re-energize advocates. Panelists and colleagues brainstorm on how elder rights advocates can best move forward to ensure strong legal assistance and elder rights systems in the future. Presented by Penelope A. Hommel, M.Sc., Co-Director, The Center for Social Gerontology; Sophie Kasimow, Staff Director, Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging (Bernie Sanders I-VT); Natalie K. Thomas, Attorney at Law, State Legal Services Developer, Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services; Omar R. Valverde, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration on Aging, Office of Elder Rights as part of the National Aging and Law Institute.
Housing Discrimination And Persons with Disabilities (2018)
