Event Details: Medicare Appeals in light of the Jimmo Settlement: What to Do When Your Client is Denied Coverage?

NAELA Foundation provided a grant to Center for Medicare Advocacy (CMA) to support NAELA members, clients who rely on Medicare to access health care, and to strengthen and protect the Medicare program. The deliverable from this grant is a Medicare Education and Administrative Advocacy webinar between February 2019 and February 2020 which will:

  • Provide Background on the Case
  • Review the Toolkit
  • Provide Related Practice Tips and Materials to help attorneys understand, Jimmo, Medicare coverage and appeals and assist clients with coverage denials.

State Advocacy 101: Strategies and Tips

This webinar will provide an advocacy '101' session for any NAELA member wanting to learn how to get involved in advocacy at the state level. The webinar will address ways to frame legislative issues to appeal to state legislators currently in office, how to connect with legislators and arrange meetings with legislators/staffers, and how to maintain positive relationship with legislators as different advocacy/legislative issues arise. The webinar will also discuss ways in which to use social media to promote legislative issues/advocacy work and connect with legislators through various media platforms.

Learning Objectives:

  •  Frame legislative issues in a way that connects with legislators/different audiences
  •  Identify and connect with legislators and stakeholders in supporting specific advocacy goals
  •  Maintain relationships with key legislators as new legislative/advocacy issues arise
