NAELA Celebrates National Special Needs Law Month in October
Elder and Special Needs Law Attorneys Focus on Education and Awareness of Legal Options for People with Disabilities and Their Families
Washington, DC — The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) established October as National Special Needs Law Month as a grassroots effort to help people with disabilities and their families understand special needs planning and the resources available to them.
Special needs law can involve supplemental needs trusts, care management, advocacy to preserve educational or civil rights, public benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid, and other important issues.
Many NAELA members will be celebrating National Special Needs Law Month virtually this year with activities in their communities covering topics such as:
• Special needs education,
• Financing long-term care,
• Supplemental needs trusts, and
• SSI and Medicaid rules and regulations.
