NAELA Joins AARP to Urge Making 7.5 Percent Medical Expense Deduction Permanent
In a letter to Congress
led by AARP, NAELA and 50 other organizations urged them to include making permanent the lower 7.5 percent threshold for the medical expense deduction in any end of year legislative package. The lower medical expense deduction threshold expires at the end of the year. NAELA worked closely with AARP during the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act debate to save the deduction from total elimination. "With the added impact of an unprecedented public health emergency and unknown long-term health impacts, this deduction is more important than ever," states the letter.
