Professional Biography
As a result of her personal experiences with her father and grandmother, Amy has become a fierce advocate for elders and those with disabilities. Amy’s father was a Chicago firefighter who suffered a life-altering disability when Amy was only 9 years old. At a very young age, Amy learned how disability impacts the physical and mental health of the family breadwinner, and recognized the cascading impact that one’s disability imposes on other familymembers. Amy also became a fierce advocate for her grandmother as a young attorney. In the 90s, Amy was an employment law attorney in Portland, when she received an emergency call that her grandmother had fallen ill back in Chicago. When Amy immediately returned home to assist her grandmother, she discovered no elder law attorneys in Chicago could be found. Unfortunately, at the time, there were no known elder law firms in Chicago. Amy quickly realized that opening an elder and disability law firm would become her life's work and passion.
